ABTO was established in the year 2015 in Nalanda, Bihar – the Land of Dhamma, and is a common forum of like-minded Tour Operators and Tourism service providers, who are promoting Buddhist pilgrimage in the tourism industry in the world, especially in India-Nepal and other countries of Asia- Pacific.
In recent times, ABTO has formed collaborative partnerships & signed MoU with various International Tourism Associations (like ASITA-Indonesia,
ATTA-Thailand, NATTA-Nepal, TOAB-Bangladesh, TEATA-Thailand,
HAN-Nepal, TCT-Thailand, TTAA-Thailand, ABTO-Bhutan, SHAN-Nepal,
TAAN-Nepal, UMTA-Myanmar, International Buddhist Confederation-IBC-India, etc.) in the world especially in Asia and South East Asia for joint
marketing and
promotion of Tourism sectors and others like Buddhist Tourism, Culture & Nature Tourism products in the world especially in Asia Pacific.
We feel confident that under your patronage and guidance, ABTO will be enormously enriched and benefited. Your extensive knowledge,
expertise and experience in the Tourism & Buddhist Sector will help ABTO in strengthening and promoting the Buddhist pilgrimage tourism industry.
At present ABTO has about 1500 Members and about 5000 Non-Members Supporters both in India & Overseas, which consists of specialists in Tourism Destination, Buddhist Circuits & Culture promoting tour operators, tourism professionals, educationists, monks, travel trade partners, philanthropists, officers, scholars whose support enables us to keep our Organization running.
We have global reach in most of the 25 countries, and our Members/Supporters and we benefit from interactions with them. Many senior bureaucrats and National/International, Tourism and Buddhist scholars are also helping us.
The ABTO International Convention, International Buddhist Travel Mart-IBTM , International Conference on Buddhist Circuits-ICBC, Lord Buddhist International Peace Award-LBIPA and International Tourism Mitra Award-ITMA acts as a high calibre forum at which Inbound and domestic players (tour operators, travel agencies, hotel operators, investors, tourism officials and other stakeholders, Guide, etc.) can meet international travel industry. IBTM also provides opportunity in which the tourism aspects of the Buddhist Sector, Culture & Tradition Sectors and the policies, government initiatives and schemes are conveyed to the invitees and participants.
Moreover, the 5th ABTO International Convention & 5th IBTM creates opportunities for tourism sellers and buyers specifically selected for the IBTM, combined with highly professional organization.
With the support of Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India, Indian State Tourism and others National and International Organizations, The 5th ABTO International Convention, 5th IBTM , 3rd ICBC, 5th LBIPA and 5th ITMA was held in 09-11 December in Kolkata, India, one of the top events of the travel & tourism industry of India. Thanks a lot for kind support again and again and we are pleased to share Event Video clip where more than 300 attended including 11 Countries participated with 39 Foreign Delegates.
From 2023 ABTO also going to add one more programme that will be 1st International Tourism Dance Festival-ITDF in Lauriya Nandan Garh, Bihar in 10 December 2023.
We hope that the 6th Events 10, 11, 12 December 2023 in Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh, India will become one of the top events of the travel & tourism industry of India in the years to come.
